How would you describe your work?
My work is very introspective, my first painting was a self portrait and that’s when I started my artistic career back in 2018. I’m painting mainly women’s shapes filled with nature, it’s like a physical reinterpretation of what’s inside us. A reminder that we are made of nature as well.
What inspires you?
Mainly nature, I find peace when I walk among trees and plants. Also, I’m avid of images, from time to time I go back to admire paintings from Picasso to contemporary illustration. I get a lot of inspiration by poetry and books as well.
Can you speak about your process?
When I paint, usually it’s because I have a project in mind. I dive into the meaning of that project and images start to appear in my mind. I don’t know how to describe it but it’s like if words changes into images, a stream of consciousness but with pictures. Writing and sketching are also very important for the creation of a painting or drawing.
How did you become interested in art?
I’ve been since I was little, mainly because I was “forced” to go to museums with my parents (art lovers). Also, my dad used to paint a lot when he was young. I had a lot of creativity and growing up I decided to go to art school.
Do you have any favorite artists, movies or books?
I admire a lot of artists, among my favorites there are Kahlo and Rousseau.
What advice do you have for younger artists?
Find something that won’t make you feel the passing of time.
Is there anything else you would like to share?
I’d like to share a quote from Picasso that I find very inspiring: “Every act of creation begins with an act of destruction.”
